§ 2-36. Definitions.

  • (a)

    Ordinance means an official, legislative action of the city council; such action is a regulation of a general and permanent nature and enforceable as a local law.

    (b)

    Resolution means an expression of the city council concerning matters of administration or policy, an expression of a temporary character, or a provision for the disposition of a particular item of the business of the city council.

    (c)

    Motion means the formal mode in which a member submits a proposed measure or resolve for the consideration and action of the meeting.

    (d)

    Policy means the general principals by which a government is guided in its management of public affairs or by the legislature in its measures.
