§ 2-22. Mayor pro tempore; vice mayor pro tempore.

  • (a)

    The city council shall elect one member thereof as a mayor pro tempore to serve as such for two (2) years, who shall act as mayor during the absence or disability of the mayor, and if a vacancy occurs, shall act as mayor until a successor is duly elected and qualified.

    (b)

    The city council shall elect one member thereof as vice mayor pro tempore to serve as such for two (2) years, who shall act as mayor during the absence or disability of both the mayor and mayor pro tempore, and if a vacancy occurs in both offices, the vice mayor pro tempore shall act as mayor until a successor is duly elected and qualified.
