§ 17-43. Fire calls outside of city—Statement of policy; restrictions.

  • (a)

    It is the policy of the city that the city will provide outside fire protection under a contractual arrangement with any government, business, nonprofit organization or individual, provided that the persons, government or business is within a five (5) mile radius of an existing city fire station and has a paid valid fire contract with the city. The city will not sell fire contracts at the fire scene and shall not respond to any fire that is not under contract, unless there is eminent danger to life.

    (b)

    The city fire department, under the direction of the city manager, shall honor any mutual aid agreement with any other municipality or fire department.

    (c)

    The fire department, in responding, either to an outside fire contract or responding under a mutual aid agreement, shall not allow the city residents to be unprotected.
